The Cisco ATA192-3PW-K9 is an analog telephone to Ethernet adapter that lets you keep using up to two standard telephones, fax machines, or paging devices while moving your voice service to an IP network.
Each of the two FXS ports can register separately with a SIP provider, so you can assign different phone numbers or extensions. This flexibility is useful when a small office needs both a main voice line and a dedicated fax line, or when a remote employee wants to separate home and business calls without running new cables.
On the network side, the device provides two 100BASE-T Ethernet ports. One port links to your broadband router or switch, and the second port can feed a computer or another network device. A built-in router helps prioritize voice traffic to keep calls clear even when data usage is high.
Support for both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols, along with G.711, G.729, and G.726 codecs, ensures compatibility with most hosted VoIP and on-premises unified communication platforms. The adapter draws only 5 watts of power and measures about four inches square by just over an inch high, so it fits easily on a desk, in a network closet, or behind a reception counter.
Configuration is straightforward through a web-based interface, and the familiar RJ11 phone jacks make setup quick. Whether you are upgrading a small business, a branch office, a healthcare clinic, or any environment that still relies on legacy analog equipment, the Cisco ATA 192 helps you transition to modern IP telephony without replacing every device.
