This listing is for a first edition, first state of THE EMERALD CITY OF OZ by L. Frank Baum. This book was published by Reilly & Britton of Chicago in 1910. It features gorgeous illustrations by John R. Neill.
This copy is bound in the rarer dark blue cloth as opposed to the more common powder blue.
Overall, it's in good shape. It shows the most wear on the cover and spine (see photos), as well as cracked hinges. Despite this, the binding is still fairly tight and solid. Internal pages show the usual yellowing with minimal rips, chips, or folded edges. All 16 original color plates are accounted for and intact (though some are partially detached). The color plates in this book stands out amongst other Oz books, as the greens are printed in metallic emerald ink. Interestingly, one color plate appears to be tipped in one page forward of its usual placement.
There is also some writing in pencil on the front endpapers.
