The beech marten, also known as the stone marten, house marten or white breasted marten, is a species of marten native to much of Europe and Central Asia, though it has established a feral population in North America
Stone marten is not a mink, though both are members of the mustelid family (weasels, etc.) and share some similarities. Mink are typically found near water and have a slender tail, while martens, including stone martens, are more terrestrial and have a bushier tail. Martens also tend to have larger ears than mink.
