This "Plimoth Plantation Sweete Bag" is a complete unused pattern kit made by The Examplarery in Dearborn, MI as an adaptation from the collections of the Plimoth Plantation.
Used in the 17th century, a sweete bag was intended to provide a fragrant smell to the air or clothing. The original was stitched in 1664. Twisted cording made from floss in the kit is used to create the drawstrings for closure. It also has three tassels which are suspended from the bottom, again made from floss included in the kit. The finished size, once assembled is 6" x 9". It would be perfect for carrying a few stitching necessities, potpourri, or any special treasures you choose to put in it.
It is stitched on 35 count cream linen, using D.M.C. floss. Instructions and stitch diagrams are included in the kit.
