As shown. See all photos. Pictured is my maternal grandfather John Powell Madden (1911–1996). In addition to being a WWII vet and a corporate VP and an art collector and a downhill skier and a world traveler and a sailor/sailboat racer and an Olympic-level swimmer, he was also an avid fly fisherman. Upon my mother’s death I even found his old metal tackle box with a number of old fishing accoutrements, including fishing tackle and fishing line, inside one of her storage units. Talk about a time capsule. Anyway, this was circa…1930s? Wish I knew where. He did get around. No golf or horseback riding for Papa, though, however yuppy he was. Can’t say why he joined the local country club. Probably for the swimming, socializing/business and the dining.
