Known as one of the greatest playoff performers of all time, Claude Lemieux’s 80 playoff goals are still 9th most in NHL history. Lemieux became a Colorado fan favorite immediately as he helped the Avs win the Cup in their first season. Lemieux is also known for sparking the bitter rivalry between the Avs and Red Wings that started in the mid-90s after Lemieux committed a controversial hit from behind on the Red Wings’ Kris Draper during the 1996 Western Conference Finals. The rivalry would continue to be fierce through the mid-2000s as both teams were consistently in the Cup hunt and often met in the playoffs.
