“‘Puss in Boots’ is a classic European fairy tale, most famously written by Charles Perrault in 1697, about a clever, anthropomorphic cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain wealth, power, and a princess for his poor master. The story begins with a miller's youngest son inheriting only a cat, who then requests boots and a bag. The cat uses these to capture game, which he presents to the king as gifts from his master, the "Marquis of Carabas". Through a series of elaborate schemes, including tricking the king into believing his master is drowning and later claiming an ogre's castle, the cat secures a royal marriage for his master and a life of luxury for both.”
